The recreation complex in Westerose has a curling rink, indoor and outdoor riding arenas and a hall for community functions. The Lakedell Agricultural Society – which is volunteer and non-profit – built and operates the facility with help from the Alberta Lottery Fund.

On the Saturday of every Labour Day weekend, we hold the largest one-day agricultural fair in Alberta. There's a parade; heavy horse Super Team Provincial Championship; the Lakedell Stock-Dog Championship; a handicrafts show with crafts, flower arrangements and baking; mutton busting; a 4-H Heifer Show; local talent show; kids' pet show and frog-jumping competition; ladies' spike-pounding; a log-sawing competition . . . you can't see it all in one day.

The fair and agricultural complex are at the heart of our community. There's always something happening at Lakedell and the contribution of the Alberta Lottery Fund certainly helps to make that happen.
